The second day into NYFW, Yeezy debuted his new collection for Adidas and just like Taylor Swift, the audience was “Kanyed.” Stealing the Fashion Week spotlight, West had everyone shocked by the innovative and rather risky way of presenting the line. The show started with the venue turning to black and the designer’s voice booming from the speakers. He expresses his reason behind collaborating with Adidas and the creative boundaries he is trying to push. The lights slowly come on to reveal the models — male and female in all different shapes and sizes — who are lined in perfect rows to present the collection. They were sporting earth toned athletic wear and somber facial expressions. Among the models was Kylie Jenner herself with her blue hair tucked away in a black wig cap. The rest of the Kardashian/Jenner clan were found in the front row surrounded by the many A-List stars supporting Kanye West. Beyoncé, Jay Z, Rihanna, Alexander Wang, and Anna Wintour were there to name a few.
The collaboration was a hit with the masses — maybe not North West who left half-way through the show in tears — and an app was even created to reserve the Yeezy Boost sneaker. Supposedly reservations were filled within minutes. Overall, the show was a huge success and had everyone talking about it inside and outside the fashion world. Kanye West proved to us again that despite his arrogance and ego, he can put on a damn good show.
